One in five boys in Britain want to follow in David Beckham and Wayne Rooneys footsteps, when it comes to their career, a new poll has shown.

London, April 14 : One in five boys in Britain want to follow in David Beckham and Wayne Rooney's footsteps, when it comes to their career, a new poll has shown.

The poll of 1,344 school children, showed that 19 per cent of lads have one main career goal - that of becoming a highly paid Premiership footballer.

The second most popular job amongst Brit lads is that of a policeman, while the third most accepted is firefighting.

The number one choice for girls, on the other hand, is to be a vet, followed by hairdresser and teacher.

The survey was conducted by Norwich and Peterborough Building Society, reports The Sun.
