Bhopal, Sep 3 : Madhya Pradesh is leaving no stone unturned to promote adventure sports in the region.
A 160-kilometre car rally was held on Sunday with this objective.
The 'Monsoon Safari' kicked off from Iqbal ground in Bhopal and passed through Patariya village and Chiklod town before circumventing back to State capital.
The rally saw a participation of 35 people.
Madhya Pradesh Automobile Association Director Akbar Khan said that the rally is divided into two sections -- competition and transport.
"In transport section, the participants travel comfortably on road at a speed of around 30-35 kilometres per hour. In the competition section drivers pass through forests, hills and river," Khan said.
The participants, young and old alike, manoeuvred their vehicles through rough and hilly terrain, crossing muddy spots and rocky paths.
Participants hope that the 'Monsoon Safari', which is being held annually for the past 15 years, should continue.
"People of Bhopal enthusiastically take part in the rally, bringing fame to the city. Many good drivers are also emerging from the region. It is a good thing and should continue," Javed said.
Hundreds of people gathered at different points en route to witness the adventurous rally.
The winner, with the least number of penalty points, 'rallied' away with a prize money worth Rs 200,000.
