The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today appointed former Indian skipper Ravi Shastri as the chairman of the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy (NCA).

Mumbai, Sept 28 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) today appointed former Indian skipper Ravi Shastri as the chairman of the Bangalore-based National Cricket Academy (NCA).

The decision was taken at the board's meeting here.

Shastri will be taking over the charge of the chairmanship of the academy from Ajay Shirke, who was made the acting chairman after the board sacked Kapil Dev from the post.

Kapil was dismissed after he joined the rival Indian Cricket League (ICL).
