Woolmer was drugged before his murder

Former Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer was drugged before being strangled, an inquest in Jamaica was told.

London, Oct. 27 : Former Pakistan cricket coach Bob Woolmer was drugged before being strangled, an inquest in Jamaica was told.

Government pathologist Ere Sheshiah was quoted by The Sun as saying that the toxicology report revealed fatal levels of a pesticide in Woolmer's body.

"My final opinion is it was asphyxia, associated with cypermethrin poisoning. I stand by what I say," Sheshiah said.

Sheshiah's initial finding set off media frenzy and a wide-ranging murder investigation. In June, authorities ended the probe after independent pathologists from South Africa, Canada and Britain submitted reports concluding the coach died from natural causes.

Other doctors told the inquest that Woolmer, 58, probably died from heart disease.

He was found in his Kingston hotel room after his side crashed out of the World Cup in March. Jamaican cops have ruled out murder.
