BCCI to appoint national team coach before Oz tour

BCCI President Sharad Pawar today said that the coach for the Indian cricket team would be appointed before the Australian tour, which is beginning in late December.

New Delhi, Nov 13 : BCCI President Sharad Pawar today said that the coach for the Indian cricket team would be appointed before the Australian tour, which is beginning in late December.

Pawar said this after a board meting here. The meeting discussed several issues, including sorting through the number of applications received for the post of coach.

The BCCI decided to continue with Lalchand Rajput as India's cricket manager till the end of the home Test series against Pakistan. He was appointed manager for the Twenty20 World Championship in South Africa.

The Team India is without a permanent coach after Greg Chappell quit the job following the team's first round exit from the World Cup in the West Indies in March this year.

Currently, former bowler Venkatesh Prasad and ex-allrounder Robin Singh are the bowling and fielding coaches respectively.
