Pak need Inzi at Test level: Rameez Raja

Former skipper Inzamam ul Haq has a lot of cricket left in him and Pakistan need him badly at the Test level, former captain Rameez Raja has said.

Lahore, May 21 : Former skipper Inzamam ul Haq has a lot of cricket left in him and Pakistan need him badly at the Test level, former captain Rameez Raja has said.

"Keeping in view the busy schedule ahead as Pakistan will face South Africa, India and Australia in Test series, Inzamam's experience and presence is must in this young team. He can deliver a lot at Test level and his services should be utilised properly," said Rameez.

Rameez rubbished reports that Inzamam's dictatorial attitude was one of the causes of Pakistan's abysmal performance during the recently concluded World Cup in the West Indies.

"He is a one of the heroes of Pakistan," said Rameez.

He however, said Pakistan needed to eradicate politics at the team and board level.

"Only a strong and transparent system can herald a new era in Pakistan cricket. Teams don't need coaches at this level. There should be some game analysts and coaching should be done prior to series at home," he said.

"Teams like Pakistan, India and Sri Lanka need strong managers who know the in and outs of the game. Ex-players should be assigned these jobs. Captain should be given more powers," the Daily Times quoted him as saying.

"During the series you can't temper with players techniques. It will muddle their thinking. The player should only concentrate on playing their natural games and winning. In my opinion, after giving so much attention to coaching, the standard of cricket has gone down," Rameez added.
