PCB to continue promoting cricket in UAE: Nasim

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will continue its support for the promotion of cricket in the UAE, Bahrain and China, board chairman Dr. Nasim Ashraf has said.

Lahore, May 21 : The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will continue its support for the promotion of cricket in the UAE, Bahrain and China, board chairman Dr. Nasim Ashraf has said.

He said Pakistan wished to play a tournament in Abu Dhabi annually for the people of Pakistan who were living here for the last many years.

"We wish to play a tournament in Abu Dhabi annually for the people of Pakistan who are living here for the last many years. I appreciate the support of Sri Lanka board officials who agreed to play the ongoing three one-day international series after a hectic World Cup," Dr. Ashraf said.

On being asked about the progress in the investigations into former coach Bob Woolmer's mysterious death during the World Cup in the West Indies, Dr. Ashraf said, it was a closed chapter, and he would not make any further comments on the issue.

He also denied that the International Cricket Council (ICC) had written any letter to the PCB regarding fast bowler Mohammad Asif after his nomination as vice captain of the Pakistan team.

"We are doing our best to run the affairs of the board in a smooth manner, and we have put the team on the right track," the Daily Times quoted him as saying.
