Inzamam should retire when the time comes: Akram

Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has said that Inzamam-ul-Haq should give retirement a thought after surpassing Javed Miandads record of 8832 Test runs.

Lahore, May 14 : Former Pakistan cricket captain Wasim Akram has said that Inzamam-ul-Haq should give retirement a thought after surpassing Javed Miandad's record of 8832 Test runs.

Inzamam, who has already quit one-day game, is just 19 runs short of the record, and Akram feels that after playing one more Test series, the middle order bat should retire from the longer version of the game also.

"No doubt Inzamam has been a great player, but one should go when the time comes," the Dawn quoted Akram, as saying at the ongoing national training camp at the Gaddafi Stadium here.

Inzamam announced his retirement from one-day international cricket and the team captaincy in March after the team crashed out of the World Cup in the first round.

While announcing his retirement, Inzamam had apologised to the people of Pakistan for the Cup debacle, and took full responsibility for it.
