London, May 11 : Soccer ace David Beckham is using his footie skills to help the fight against malaria.
Becks appears in an advertisement to raise money for mosquito nets to help stop the spread of malaria in Africa.
The disease, spread by the female Anopheles mosquitoes, causes the deaths of 3,000 children a day on the continent.Becks has lent his support to the 'Malaria No More' campaign through the advertisement, which sees him on a football field taking one of his famous free kicks with four cardboard cut out players standing between him and the goal.
"Since I've been young I've always practiced free kicks. What's important is getting into the zone; I don't change my mind. If I take a good enough free kick the goalkeeper won't stop it," the Daily Mail quotes him, as telling viewers.
At the end of the commercial a series of messages flash onto the screen, including one which says: "We need more nets."
Beckham is due to start with new club, US team LA Galaxy on July 1, a day after his contract with Spanish giants Real Madrid runs out.
