Cricket team camp to start in Kolkata ahead of Bangladesh tour

Indian cricketers are set to take part in a five-day conditioning camp here ahead of the team's month-long tour to Bangladesh.

Kolkata, May 1 : Indian cricketers are set to take part in a five-day conditioning camp here ahead of the team's month-long tour to Bangladesh.

Cricket manager Ravi Shastri, fielding coach Robin Singh, bowling coach Ventkatesh Prasad and skipper Rahul Dravid inspected the facilities at the Eden Gardens on Tuesday.

Administrator Surendra Bhave said the players and the manager were satisfied with the available training facilities.

"It will go on from 2nd to the 6th. We are happy with the facilities... support staff has seen all the facilities and they have said that we'll start the camp tomorrow. It will be done in two sessions - the morning session will have fielding and fitness and afternoon session will have nets. And we are hoping to start tomorrow early morning at 7:45 a.m.(local time) and two sessions till 6th, and 7th the team leaves for Bangladesh," Bhave said.

The two nations will play a three-match one-day series followed by two Tests from May 10.

India are still smattering from their shock World Cup exit.

Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar and former captain Saurav Ganguly have been "rested" for the one dayers and included in the Test team, out-of-form batsman Virender Sehwag has made the grade in the one-day team, but has been dropped from the Test squad.

Off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, left-arm seamer Irfan Pathan and pacer Ajit Agarkar, all part of the World Cup disappointment, have been dropped from both teams.
