Batsman Virender Sehwag and spinner Harbhajan Singh has been left out from Team Indias squad for the tour of England and Ireland, starting next week.
New Delhi, June 12 : Batsman Virender Sehwag and spinner Harbhajan Singh has been left out from Team India's squad for the tour of England and Ireland, starting next week.
Bowler Munaf Patel and all-rounder Irfan Pathan join Sehwag and Harbhajan, as the selection team has also left them out.
The 15-member ODI squad and 16-member Test squad have no new faces except Ranadeb Bose.
Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar and former skipper Sourav Ganguly make their return to the ODI squad after they were dropped in the recent series against Bangladesh. Tendulkar and Ganguly also feature in the Test squad.
Jharkhand batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni is the new vice-captain of the ODI squad and Tendulkar has been entrusted with the same responsibility for the Test matches.
The new team was announced after the working committee of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had a marathon meeting in the national capital today.
Earlier the working committee named former Indian skipper Chandu Borde as interim manager for India's tour of England, Ireland and Scotland, starting next week.
The BCCI Working Committee also discussed some urgent issues like telecast rights, players' contract, and the situation arising after South African Graham Ford declined to accept the offer of becoming Team India's coach.
Borde, 73, was the manager in the historic tour of Pakistan in 1989-90, and had also been entrusted with the same responsibility from 1984 to 1986.
"I am happy to get this responsibility but I have still not got the official confirmation," Borde said today after being told about his selection as team manager.
Having played 55 Tests matches as a batsman for India, Borde was chairman of the selection committee from 1999 to 2002.
Naming Borde as the interim manager would help the BCCI get some time to look for a new coach.
The ODI-squad is as follows: Gautam Gambhir, Robin Uthappa, Sourav Ganguly, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid (captain), Yuvraj Singh, Dinesh Karthik, Mahendra Singh Dhoni (vice-captain, wicket keeper), Rohit Sharma, Ramesh Powar, Ajit Agarkar, Piyush Chawla, Zaheer Khan, RP Singh, Sreesanth.
The Test squad is as follows: Wasim Jaffer, Dinesh Karthik, Gautam Gambhir, Rahul Dravid (captain), Sachin Tendulkar (vice-captain), Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, Yuvraj Singh, Ramesh Powar, Anil Kumble, Zaheer Khan, Sreesanth, RP Singh, Ishant Sharma, Ranadeb Bose.
