New Delhi, June 12 : The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Working Committee will meet here later today to decide on the appointment of the national coach after South Africa's Graham Ford turned down the offer yesterday. The former South Africa cricket coach Ford declined the offer to coach the national team, saying this is the right decision for him and his family and he would prefer to continue as the Director of Cricket of England's Kent county club.
"After careful consideration, I have decided to continue my work here at Kent. This has been a really difficult decision. I am honoured that India have shown such interest in my capabilities, but (I) feel that this is the right decision for me and my family," Ford said in a statement issued by the county club.
BCCI Treasurer N Srinivasan later confirmed receiving a communication from Ford that he could not accept the offer at "short notice because of his commitments to Kent".
"I have informed the BCCI President (Sharad Pawar) the matter. The matter will be decided at the Working Committee of the Board which as you all know is to meet in Delhi tomorrow," Srinivasan said.
