The Military World Games torch, which was lit yesterday in Leh, will reach here on August 5.

New Delhi, July 30 : The Military World Games torch, which was lit yesterday in Leh, will reach here on August 5.

The cycling expedition carrying the flame will cover a distance of 4249 kms in 20 days passing through Tangland - La, Charchu, Manali, Agra, Jhansi, Nagpur, Hyderabad, Kurnool and Hosur before reaching Kanyakumari.

Bravo, the mascot of the fourth edition of the games, is also accompanying this journey from Leh to Kanyakumari.

Minister of State for Defence MM Pallam Raju lit the flame at Leh on Sunday.

The torch was handed over to the leader of the Corps of Electronics and Mechanical Engineers (EME) Cycle Rally Team, which will carry it right up to Kanyakumari.

The event is part of series of events, which will be conducted as a precursor to the mega event, to be held in October. The ceremony was organised to commemorate 75 days to the Military World Games.

India is conducting the fourth CISM Military World Games in Hyderabad and Mumbai from October 14 to 21.

This event is considered the biggest sporting event, next only to the Olympics. Over 80 countries are expected to participate in this event.

India is conducting this event for the first time. Various activities are being conducted by different units of the Indian Armed Forces to publicise the Military World Games.
