London, July 10 : England's promising lefy-arm spinner Monty Panesar is to star in TV ads for crisps.

According to The Mirror, the 25-year-old is to be the face of the new chilli and lemon flavour snacks to be launched this week, and aimed at Asian tastes.

The packets will carry product information in Hindi

It is hoped it will be a hit with the UK's 2.5million-strong Indian, Bangladeshi and Pakistani population.

Makers Walkers have used Match of the Day host Lineker since 1995 in their ads with celebrities, including Charlotte Church and Lennox Lewis.

Monty from Luton, Beds, who has Indian parents, has won many fans with his match-winning bowling.

He described it as a new challenge and predicted its success with UK's Asian communities.
