Admitting that both India and the hosts had got close to stepping over in the Trent Bridge Test, England captain Michael Vaughan has called for gamesmanship, while giving a big no to swearing.
London, Aug 9 : Admitting that both India and the hosts had got "close to stepping over" in the Trent Bridge Test, England captain Michael Vaughan has called for gamesmanship, while giving a big no to swearing.
"There were a few occasions in that last game when it got close to stepping over the line, and our job is to make sure we don't do that," Vaughan said ahead of the third Test starting today at The Oval.
"We will still play intense cricket, but I don't want to see swearing on the pitch. A little gamesmanship and chirping can be good, but when it comes to swearing at opposing players, that is wrong," the Daily Express quoted him, as saying.
ICC match referee Ranjan Madugalle has warned both Vaughan and Dravid to keep their players in check after the confrontations in the Nottingham Test, which India won by seven wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the three Test series.
