Lee wants to enjoy the role of spearheading Aussie attack

Australian speedster Brett Lee, who is all set to lead the countrys bowling attack following the retirement of Glen McGrath, has said he would like to enjoy the role by not putting too much pressure on himself.

Sydney, Aug 30 : Australian speedster Brett Lee, who is all set to lead the country's bowling attack following the retirement of Glen McGrath, has said he would like to enjoy the role by not putting too much pressure on himself.

"I have been asked am I going to enjoy leading the Australian attack or is there going to be a lot more pressure on me, but I have done it for a number of years in the one-day competition," Lee said, as the team prepares to kick off an intense and arduous 18-month schedule with the Twenty20 World Cup in South Africa from September 11.

The 30-year-old bowler said he has led the Australian attack for three years in one-dayers and in Test matches on a few occasions when Glenn was not around, so he is "actually looking forward to doing it."

"It is going to be different with Glenn not being around, but now it is time for me to enjoy that responsibility," he added.

Admitting that if McGrath had retired a few years ago, it would have been a bit daunting for him personally, Lee said, "But it is just a matter of what I can do now for Australia."

"If that means that I am the lead strike bowler I will enjoy the role and not put too much pressure on myself. That's the way I am going to go about this," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Lee, as saying.

Lee, who is likely to lead a largely unproven attack with Stuart Clark, Mitchell Johnson, Shaun Tait and Shane Watson, went on to say that no one wants to lose two of their best bowlers-McGrath and Shane Warne-"but it's not a time to dwell on that fact."

"We have to make sure we move on and get on with the game... It's disappointing and it's sad that these players are gone, and we will miss them terribly," he said.

"But just looking around the team now, I'm reminded again that we've got a fantastic squad, who will do a fantastic job," Lee added.
