The Pakistan Cricket Boards (PCB) appellate tribunal has suspended the fine and penalty imposed on speedster Shoaib Akhtar for indiscipline early this month.
Lahore, Aug 21 : The Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) appellate tribunal has suspended the fine and penalty imposed on speedster Shoaib Akhtar for indiscipline early this month.
The decision came after Shoaib told the two-member committee that he had informed captain Shoaib Malik he was leaving camp because of a stiff neck.
"The two-man committee, comprising Moin Afzal, a member of the board's ad-hoc committee, and Imtiaz Ahmad, a former Pakistan Test wicketkeeper, heard the board officials and Shoaib's stance. It feels he (Shoaib) needs to be given more chance to plead his case," a PCB spokesman said.
"The committee has asked the board to review this case again and the penalties imposed on Shoaib," the Daily Times quoted the spokesman as saying.
The board had imposed a Rs300,000 fine on Shoaib for leaving a training camp in Karachi earlier this month without informing the concerned authorises, and for subsequently not appearing before a disciplinary committee.
