Former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson, who has been appointed as the coach of Pakistan national team, will arrive in Lahore tonight to begin his two-year tenure.
Karachi, Aug 20 : Former Australian fast bowler Geoff Lawson, who has been appointed as the coach of Pakistan national team, will arrive in Lahore tonight to begin his two-year tenure.
The 49-year-old Aussie is likely to address a press conference on Tuesday before joining the Pakistan squad at a five-day fitness-cum-conditioning camp at the Gaddafi Stadium for next month's Twenty20 World Championship.
Lawson recently said that the biggest series of the decade for Pakistan would be against India to be played later this year. He will also face a stiff challenge when his former team Australia visits early next year for three Tests and five One-day Internationals.
"Australia are the top side and to beat them would be fantastic... But to defeat India in India, it's about 10 Ashes series wrapped in one," the Dawn quoted him as saying in a recent interview.
Lawson was appointed Pakistan coach on July 16 following the untimely death of Bob Woolmer during the 2007 World Cup in the West Indies on March 18.
Lawson took 180 wickets in 46 Tests, and 88 in 79 One-day Internationals between 1980 and 1989 for Australia.
