Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has expressed confidence about his teams chances of beating Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup to be played in South Africa next month.
Karachi, Aug 2 : Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has expressed confidence about his team's chances of beating Australia in the Twenty20 World Cup to be played in South Africa next month.
"There is no doubt that Australia is a very strong team, but I believe that if we play positively, Pakistan can beat them or any other side in the competition," Afridi said.
Afridi, however, admitted that only a team effort could help Pakistan go all the way in the tournament.
"Individual performances are important, but what really counts is a team effort," The News quoted him, as saying.Afridi, who has done well with both bat and ball in the practice matches, also sounded confident about continuing his performance in South Africa.
"I am in good form and am looking forward to doing my bit for the team in South Africa," he said.
The World Cup of the shortest version of the game will kick off on September 11 with the match between hosts South Africa and West Indies at the New Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg.
The final will be played at the same venue on September 24.
