Hunt on to lookout for a cricket coach: BCCI

Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sharad Pawar has said that a hunt is on for a permanent cricket coach for the national squad.

Nadiad (Gujarat), Aug 2 : Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) President Sharad Pawar has said that a hunt is on for a permanent cricket coach for the national squad.

"There is a requirement for the new coach and we will take a final decision once we find the right man," Pawar said.

But he also said that the national team was not in dire need of a coach as senior players were handling the situation quite well.

"What would a coach teach to players like Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly?," he asked.

They have played so many matches and made world records and these senior players are also good coach for the new comers, he added.

India has been without a coach since April after Australian Greg Chappell resigned following the team's shock first-round exit from the World Cup.

Early in June, South African Graham Ford turned down an offer to succeed him.

Former India captain Chandu Borde, 72, has been named interim cricket manager, a role that former all-rounder Ravi Shastri performed during the recent tour of Bangladesh.

Indian cricket team, currently touring England, eased to a seven-wicket win over the hosts in the second test at Trent Bridge on Tuesday to take a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.

It was India's second test win in England since 1986. The final test starts at The Oval on August 9.
