London, Aug.15 : L A Galaxy has said that it has got special permission from Major Soccer League (MLS) officials to ferry former England soccer captain David Beckham to matches around the United States in private jets.
According to The Sun, MLS rules state private jets are not to be used, as they do not want players to be seen setting themselves apart from fans.
But in Beckham's case, an exception was made on grounds of security.
Fans have mobbed Beckham wherever he has appeared, and L.A. Galaxy fears the situation could spiral out of control.
Galaxy General Manager Alexi Lalas said: "It has to do with team security. We're not just bringing one of the biggest athletes in the world, but also one of the most famous people in the world. Our team needs to be safe."
