Lahore, Aug 13 : Pakistan squash legend Jahangir Khan will be conferred with an honourary doctorate of philosophy by the London Metropolitan University for his contribution to the sport.
The doctorate will be given in December this year.
"It is a great honour for me and for my country and a great recognition of my services to the game," Jahangir was quoted by the Daily Times, as saying.
"It is a great honour for the sport of squash as well, and I hope to push the case for squash's inclusion in the 2012 London Olympics when I go there to receive the degree," he added.
Forty-three-year-old Jahangir won a world record 10 British Open crowns from 1982 to 1991, and six world titles.
Jahangir, who retired in 1996, has been president of the World Squash Federation since 2002.
