Election campaign for Muncipalities comes to an end
The Election campaign for the Municipal elections came to an end today in Hyderabad. Telugu Desam Party, Congress, MIM and TRS with their prime leaders campaigned in Hyderabad. Chief Minister Mr. N Chandrababu Naidu highlighted the various development activities that TDP has done during its tenue and asked the people to act wise and bring a win to TDP so as see development in Hyderabad. Congress Leaders including National leader Mr. Daljit Singh, PCC President Mr. M Satyanarayana Rao and Senior leader Mr. Janardhan has campaigned in the twin cities. They highlighted the various inefficiencies such as Power tariff hike, APSRTC Employee strikes etc.

Film Star Mr. Rajendra Prasad campaigned for TDP in Markhapur while Senior Congress Leader Sri Rosayya campaigned for the Congress.

Pulse Polio Immunization camp was held all over the state. Lakhs of babies took pulse polio immunization drops today.

The State CPI Party decided to provide a bag of rice to the 633 farmers who committed suicide due to various problems since 1997. It may be recalled that most of the farmers died due to failure of the crop due to natural calamities, use spurious seeds etc. CPI said that the Government have not yet paid any compensation and that it showed its failure once again.

Speaker of Assembly, Mrs Prathiba Bharati took part in the concluding day of the 3-day Jamaat-e-Islami Hind conference in Vijayawada. She said that 'communal harmony is the need of the hour' and that all major religions were similar in manner.

Two children - Mounika and Sushmita were selected for the years Ugadi Puraskar 2002 by the Madras Telugu Academy. Two child prodigies perform magic shows and were a native of Vizianagaram.

More Engineering Colleges in the Private Sector
Vice Chancellor of JNTU, Mr. Y Venkatrami Reddy said that more and more engineering colleges will be established in the state under the private sector. He said that out of the 102 societies which applied for the same before the AICTE, 36 were granted permission.
