'Into the Pixel' 2008 Art Exhibition Debuts at AnimFX New Zealand

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time ever, the Into the Pixel exhibit will be shown during the AnimeFX New Zealand Convergence Conference in Wellington, New Zealand. On Sunday, November 16, 2008 there will be an Into the Pixel Charity Auction and four lucky bidders will get to take home a limited edition print from the show.

Now in its fifth year, Into the Pixel (ITP) is the world's only juried digital art exhibition that brings together experts from the traditional fine art world and the interactive entertainment industry to display and discuss the art of the video game. The 2008 ITP Collection was announced at a special Jury Panel Event at Siren Studios in Hollywood in June 2008. The exhibit is a partnership between the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences, the ESA, and the Prints & Drawings Council of LACMA.

"Video Games are an influential aspect of pop-culture and entertainment, and behind every game character and kinetic environment are artists whose images tell the stories. The art is created on a computer with software based brushes, pallet knives, canvases and paint, which takes as much skill and talent as 'traditional art.' We are excited to be able to bring these gifted artists into the public eye and look forward to the future growth of Into the Pixel," said Joseph Olin, president of The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences.
