WooMyFriend – The New Age Dating Application Launched

June 24, 2014 - Bangalore, Karnataka, India

WooMyFriend is a revolutionary new idea in dating that is set to transform the way Indian singles find partners online and provides friends with the ability to set each other up with likeminded singles in a safe and moderated manner.

"The original idea came from me working in Mumbai for a short while and not having a big social circle. I realized that India was lacking in avenues or mediums for meeting new people compared to the western world.  I wanted to make friends and potentially meet a partner but other than the matrimonial sites, there wasn’t anything that was young, cool and trendy for the social media generation. I wanted to find a way of fixing this for the friends that I had made whilst in Mumbai, something that was fun and easy to use and where everyone can get vouched for so it was safer than meeting a total stranger without any background!", Says Shamin, the founder of WooMyFriend.

Shamin wanted a safe way to introduce friends to other friends or even family, someone that would write about you, take away the daunting experience of having to write about yourself and losing the stigma that follows dating sites. There are similar apps in the UK that is super successful and as Indians always have a friend/relative to tell us about, she thought it was a great idea to connect them on a site and build a community.

Over the next few months WooMyFriend will be working on raising awareness, advertising and letting more people know about the fun app, spread the idea to as many people as possible. They will also be looking at actively at investment opportunities, with some investors showing interest already.
