Everest Edusys Presents the Grand Finale of the First Mega Inter Chennai Corporation Schools Science Competition, ‘Po Singa Po’

1st Prize: CMS Arumbakkam -K. Chinnaiya 6th, G . Lalitha 7th, S.Jeevanatndam 8th, With Qed Everest Edusis& Solutions Pvt Ltd Chairman Mr.Krishana And Lalitha IAS2014 being the year for ‘Fostering Scientific Temper’, Science Education Visionary, Everest Edusys, marked the National Science Day milestone, with a special event ‘Po Singa Po’. As a part of the academic enrichment program for their flagship solution QED; the first time in India, a reality show based Science competition was unveiled. This competition had three segments fashioned on the QED Learning Methodology and Solution. QED aspires to design events that become the first step in a competition cycle taking students from the school level to regional, state, national and global competitions.
 
This mega exclusive competition was conducted with 23 teams from 92 Chennai Corporation schools, each team consisting of 3 students and 1 teacher. The Semi finals were conducted on 24th February, 2014, where 12 teams were selected for the final round.
 
Today, at IIT Research Park, the 12 semi-finalists went through the three competition segments - the QUEST segment was a simple to complex question & answer format. In the EXPLORE segment children examined QED Science Solutions and answered questions based on the supplementing concept. The final segment, DISCOVER was an audio-visual round where children saw experiment clippings and answered the theory behind the magic.
 
2nd Prize: CMS Erikarai - L. Janaki 8th, R . Roja 8th, s. Karthikeyan 8th, With Qed Everest Edusis& Solutions Pvt Ltd Chairman Mr.Krishana And Lalitha IASIn a nail biting finish, three victorious teams emerged.COC Education Department DC R.Lalitha IAS  gave away the prizes first prize, an all expense paid trip to experience the Singapore Science Center>.  the second prize a trip to the Kolkata Science Center .. Third prize a trip to the Bangalore Science Center. 
 
The competition itself brought to light that middle school science is reliant on scientific concepts; establishing and cementing the fact that QED solutions help understand these concepts better, supplementing the curricula. The accompanying teachers said that the competition format was very innovative and the students enjoyed the reality show experience immensely.

Education Department of Chennai Corporation, in an initiative to bring global learning and teaching standards to Corporation Schools has engaged in a partnership with QED Managed Services Solution. QED to run total of 20 Managed Science Centers for 92 Chennai Corporation Schools to offer the 20,000 + middle school children a new way to learn science; 4 are currently functioning and 6 more to launch by the end of this month.  This collaborative journey started a year back, with the first QED Science Exposition at the Triplicane center to celebrate National Science Day.
