Dr. T.G. Prabhashankar “Premi” Receives the Vidya Sagar Honorary Doctorate from Vikramshila Hindi Vidyapeet for his Contributions to the Advancement of Hindi

Dr. T.G. Prabhashankar “Premi” is pleased to announce that he has been conferred with the prestigious Vidya Sagar Honorary Doctorate in Hindi by Vikramshila Hindi Vidyapeet in Bhagalpur, Bihar. This doctorate was awarded on December 13, 2014, by the academic council of Vikramshila Hindi Vidyapeet for his continued service towards the advancement of Hindi, the official language of India, and his contributions in the fields of arts, literature and research.

Dr. T.G. Prabhashankar “Premi”, a retired professor in Hindi from Bangalore University, has worked in the field of Hindi literature for over 45 years and has authored more than 60 books in Hindi and Kannada. Currently, Dr. Prabhashankar is the Chief Editor of Basava Marg Hindi quarterly from Bangalore.

His latest contributions include the “Hindi Kannada Parasparikatha” (comparative Research),”Vachana”  an edited translation from Kannada to Hindi, and the “Vaddaradhana” a translation of the ninth century classical Kannada prose on Jain Literature into Hindi, published by Central Sahitya Academy in New Delhi.

Dr. Prabhashankar was appointed to the prestigious Kendriya Hindi Samiti, under the Chairmanship of Dr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India. He represented the Government of India in the Prime Minister’s delegation at the eighth World Hindi Conference held in New York in 2007, and the ninth World Hindi Conference held in Johannesburg in 2012. He has also served on Hindi advisory boards of Ministry of ISRO and Atomic Energy, Railway, Law and Planning.

He has been honoured with numerous national awards, including the Souhardha Samman from the government of Uttar Pradesh. He also received Non-Hindi writer award from the Central Hindi Directorate in New Delhi for his book “Hindi Kannada Sahithya Sampada”,  presented by Mr. Shankar Dayal Sharma former President of India.
