Russian President Vladimir Putin to meet Cameron to discuss about Syrian conflicts

August 2, 2012 - London, United Kingdom

Russian President Vladimir Putin will make his trip to Britain in over seven years. He will watch the judo contest at the 2012 London Olympics on Thursday. Putin is a former judo champion and holds a 6th degree in black belt. Putin was also a former Champion of Leningrad. Along with watching the judo bouts, Putin will also meet UK Prime Minister David Cameron to discuss about the Syrian civil war.

The last time Putin was in London was during a state visit in June 2003 and was in Britain for the Gleneagles G8 summit in July 2005. Putin would defend Russia's stand on Syria during his meeting with Cameron. On the other hand, Cameron is likely to raise the issue of Russia continuously blocking a resolution to put pressure on Syrian president Bashar Assad in the United Nations Security Council.
