Pak Chief Justice says situation in Balochistan out of control

April 4, 2012 - Islamabad

A three-member Supreme Court bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhury has described the situation in Pakistan's largest province - Balochistan - as being out of control because of deteriorating law and order.

It declared law enforcement agencies as being in a hopeless state, after taking notice of the murder of a woman in the province.

According to the Express Tribune, the apex court bench directed the police to submit a report on the incident.

The three-member larger bench also asked Balochistan advocate general about the number of missing persons in the province district-wise, and whether any case had been taken up.

Chief Justice Chaudhury further said that the situation is forcing people to migrate; and when they leave, they are forced off buses and killed.

The court adjourned the hearing till April 5.
