  • Malala Yousafzai, the 14-year-old girl who was shot by Taliban is shifted to the United Kingdom for further treatment.
  • Former Cambodian king Norodom Sihanouk died at a hospital in Beijing, after having a Heart attack. He was 89. Sihanouk came to throne in 1941 and led Cambodia to independence from France in 1953.
  • Relatives of the victims of the 9/11 attack can watch the pretrial hearings in Guantanamo Bay on closed-circuit television at Fort Hamilton. The sessions are closed to the public, but relatives can register to watch the proceedings. Five men charged in the terrorist attack will undergo the military commission hearings. The hearings will also be shown at forts in New Jersey, Massachusetts and Maryland.
  • The Muslim rebels and the Philippine government which reached a peace deal couple of days ago has signed a preliminary pact. The framework agreement, is the road map to a peace settlement that is expected by 2016. The pact was signed in Manila's Malacanang presidential palace by Marvic Leonen on behalf of the government and Mohagher Iqbal of Moro Islamic Liberation Front.
  • Dozens of militants attacked a Pakistani police checkpoint in the northwestern city of Peshawar. At least six security officials were killed in the assault that occurred at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday.
  • In what would be the first execution since 2007, South Dakota is set to execute Eric Robert, 50, for killing a security guard. The execution by lethal injection is scheduled at 10 p.m. local time at the statep rison in Sioux Falls. Eric Robert and a fellow inmate Rodney Berget has killed guard Ronald Johnson and attacked several other officers in an escape attempt in April 2011.
