North Korean state television confirms Kim Jong-un is married

July 25, 2012 - Pyongyang (North Korea)

The state media of North Korea have confirmed that the North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong-un is married to Ri Sol-ju. The confirmation puts an end of speculation to marital status of the North Korean supreme commander. Jong-un took over as the leader of the country after the death of his father Kim Jong-il in December 2011. The television reported that Kim and Ri opened an amusement part in Pyongyang, the capital of North Korea.

After taking over, Kim Jong-un made a military reshuffle which was widely regarded as a move to stamp his authority on the army. He officially took the title of a "Marshal" last Wednesday. It is the highest rank in the Korean People's Army.
