4 killed, 2 injured in U.S. drone strike in NW Pakistan

July 1, 2012 - Islamabad

At least four people were killed and two others injured when U.S. drones fired two missiles at a house suspected of a militant hideout in Pakistan's northwest tribal area of North Waziristan on Sunday morning, reported local Urdu TV channel ARY.

The news about the strike came at about 7:00 a.m. local time when two missiles were reportedly fired at a house the Shawal area of Miranshah, a main town in North Waziristan which borders Afghanistan.

Details about the identities of the killed and injured are not immediately known.

U.S. drones often launch strikes at the militants hiding in the mountainous areas along the Pakistani-Afghan border. Though many killed in such strikes are believed to be militants, the U.S. drones do often kill and wound innocent tribal people living in the areas, causing a strong protest from the Pakistani side.
