Video of couple kissing during Vancouver riot proves it really happened

June 24, 2011 - Melbourne

Amidst controversies of the Vancouver riot kiss not being real, a video has emerged to prove that it had happened exactly as the couple, who were photographed kissing, had said.

The video emerged on YouTube and it showed Canadian Alex Thomas and her Australian boyfriend Scott Jones being rushed by the police before tumbling down and sharing a passionate embrace during the riot.

The couple had been photographed kissing in the middle of the street by Getty photographer Rich Lam and the picture had gone viral, though controversies about it being real started.

The loved-up pair has turned down several offers for interviews since the kiss made them worldwide celebrities.

Jones previously said that he did not want the "extra stress" of media appointments after he and Thomas were inundated with offers to describe the events that led to their public clinch.

But leading Australian celebrity agent Max Markson confirmed that the pair subsequently hired his Markson Sparks PR firm to explore the potential for earnings, with Jones keen on a career in entertainment.

"I think for Scott, it's a tremendous opportunity for him to springboard his acting and stand-up comedy," quoted Markson as telling the Toronto Star.

"Overseas people know more about that photo than the Stanley Cup," he added.
