Petraeus was "the only named person" in Osama's Abbottabad documents

June 24, 2011 - Washington

General David Petraeus, President Barack Obama's nominee to lead the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), was "the only named person" in documents seized by the US Navy SEALS from Osama bin Laden's hideout in Abbottabad, Pakistan, North Carolina Republican Senator Richard Burr has said.

Burr, a member of the intelligence committee, however did not say whether Al Qaeda had a plan to kill General Petraeus.

Addressing the general's Senate confirmation hearing, the senator suggested that it would be wise on the part of Petraeus to bring a security detail with him to Langley, the Wall Street Journal reports.

"There will be agency-provided security," the general, who now commands all allied forces in Afghanistan, responded.

The hearing covered a variety of CIA-related topics, including drone strikes, Afghanistan, and questions about detainees.
