Oz black magic 'holy man' jailed for luring women into sex

May 6, 2011 - Melbourne

An Australian man, who had been regarded as a holy man who could communicate with angels, has been jailed for at least 15 years after he lured two vulnerable women into having sex with him to rid themselves of black magic curses.

Judge Penelope Hock of the NSW District Court set a maximum term of 20 years for 63-year-old Tony Golossian, reports News.com.au.

Golossian had been found guilty of 24 charges, most being sexual intercourse without consent.

The two victims were convinced that black magic curses had been placed on them and their families, and they were forced to have sex to get rid of the supposed curses during "prayer sessions".

The judge said the emotional harm caused both women was "substantial".

She said the first victim, who suffered a "terrible ordeal" over four-and-a-half years, had been "cruelly manipulated into bizarre behavior" and in effect "brainwashed".
