Millionaire's estranged wife, lover forged wills to grab his 5m pounds fortune

May 6, 2011 - London

A millionaire's estranged wife and his lover have faked their own versions of his will for the deceased's 5 million pounds fortune.

Chris John, who died of a brain haemorrhage at 47, has left behind a property portfolio, an Aston Martin and a Porsche but no written will.

The two women in his life, wife, Helen John and lover, Gillian Clemo forged their wills to benefit from his estate, the Newport Crown Court in South Wales was told.

Prosecutor John Philpotts said that first Clemo "miraculously" discovered a will, which let her remain in the luxury house.

Later, his wife Helen, 48, forged a page granting her a large slice of his wealth, he said.

The jury was told that the fakes were uncovered because Clemo, 57, had spelt the name of John's teenaged daughter incorrectly.

Philpotts said that Helen admitted her offence and received a police caution.

"There were a number of inaccuracies which proved it had been forged," The Daily Express quoted him as saying.

It was later revealed that John had told his 15-year-old daughter that he had not made a will for the disposal of his wealth, which also included valuable Second World War medals.
