Islamabad to seek details of US' 'Pak nuke facilities sabotage' plot from Iran

June 9, 2011 - Islamabad

Pakistan will contact Iran to get details about the US plan to sabotage its nuclear facilities following Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's statement on the matter, it has been learnt.

"We have accurate information that in order to gain dominance over Pakistan and weaken the country's government and nation, the Americans want to sabotage Pakistan's nuclear facilities and pave the way for the US' extended presence and the weakening of the national governing of the people through the lever of the [United Nations] Security Council and some international organisations," Ahmadinejad had said during a recent press conference.

The Iranian President's claims increased Pakistani suspicions about a US conspiracy to denuclearise the world's only nuclear Islamic state.

Ahmadinejad did not give details nor revealed the source of his information, but Pakistani security institutions and authorities got alarmed by this extremely serious warning from Iran, and would soon contact the Iranian authorities to get the precise details of the US plot against Pakistan's nukes, The News reports.

Although Washington has given repeated assurances to Islamabad that it has nothing against Pakistan's nuclear devices, Pakistani authorities do not trust the Americans.

"We know that the ultimate objective of the United States here is not to get a piece of land but to target our nuclear facilities," a source said.

"It is an issue of Pakistan's national security, which cannot be compromised," the source added.akistan had reportedly been voicing its concerns even to US authorities on this issue, but in a diplomatic manner. However, the Iranian president said the same thing in a candid and frank manner.

It is said that even Pakistan Army chief General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani has conveyed his growing apprehensions to US President Barack Obama that the America was deliberately creating chaos within Pakistan in order to denuclearise Pakistan.
