Incestuous brother-sister walk free after court trial

October 15, 2011 - London

An incestuous brother-sister pair, who were caught having sex in a railway station lift, have been let free as legal officials say it was not in the public interest to jail them.

Sheriff Ray Small who had placed Vile Richard and Kirsty Finlayson on probation, later walked free from a heavily-guarded courtroom with extra police being drafted amid fears of a vigilante attack.

"Your lives are already to a large extent ruined," the Scotsman quoted Hamilton Sheriff Court as saying.

The 21-year-old ex-squaddie, Richard, who got two years' probation, admitted he was terrified of going to court.

"I was so terrified going to court, I really thought I was going to prison,' he said.

"I'm so glad this is all finished," Richard stated.

Finlayson, 18, who was handed one year's probation and ordered to undergo counselling said that she felt humiliated.

"It was horrible as everyone knew why I was there. I felt so humiliated," Finlayson said.

"It's over now and it feels like the biggest weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

"I can move on from this terrible experience," she stated.

At an earlier hearing the two had admitted having unlawful sexual intercourse at Motherwell railway station in June last year.
