Hina Rabbani to visit India in July for ministerial level talks

Pakistan's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hina Rabbani Khar will visit India next month for talks with Indian External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna.

Rabbani has been functioning as acting Minister of Foreign Affairs since February 13, following the February 9 resignation of Shah Mehmood Qureshi.

There are very strong rumours that Prime Minister Gilani might promote her to full ministerial level portfolio

Khar, 34, is a member of parliament from Multan. She is the daughter of politician Malik Ghulam Noor Rabbani Khar and niece of Malik Ghulam Mustafa Khar.

A businesswoman by profession, she graduated from the Lahore University of Management Sciences in 1999, and received her M.Sc. in Management from the University of Massachusetts in 2001.

On June 13, 2009, she became the first woman to present a budget speech in the national assembly.

She is the first female Minister State for Foreign Affairs in Pakistan's history. By Naveen Kapoor
