Dr 'Big Bad Wolf' fondled women patients' breasts

May 6, 2011 - London

A bogus Doctor Who called himself the 'Big Bad Wolf' carried out indecent examinations of six women, claiming he could diagnose by fondling their br**ts, is facing trial in the United Kingdom.

Antonio Gobbato, of Pinner, was arrested at his consulting rooms in Stockwell Road, on June 4, last year, reports the Daily Mail.

The women reported him to the General Medical Council, only to be told he was not registered, Inner London Crown Court heard.

The 50-year-old also cruelly convinced three parents their children needed expensive treatment abroad, the court heard.

The Portuguese national, also known as Fabio, allegedly used questionable foreign diplomas to register with the Complementary Medical Association.

Calling himself variously as 'an NHS doctor, gynaecologist, paediatrician and a psychiatrist', he fooled victims with his white coat, certificates, stethoscope and microscope, it has been claimed.

The court was told Gobbato ran clinics from four locations during the ten-month 'con', firstly at his home in Pinner, north-west London, then at a beautician's home in Whitechapel, east London.

He then borrowed a doctor's surgery in Kilburn and finally moved to Stockwell, south London.

"He claims to have qualified in Portugal in massage, homeopathy, iridology, acupuncture and herbal medicines," prosecutor Linda Strudwick told the jury.

Gobbato targeted women from his homeland who were often illegally in the UK and unable to get NHS registration.

He is also accused of telling a patient she needed an internal examination before assaulting her while wearing Marigold washing-up gloves.

"The sexual assaults related to occasions when he touched the br**ts and vaginal areas of women who had come to see him for medical consultations," said Strudwick.
