PML-N rejects written pardon reportedly signed by Sharif brothers

The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has categorically rejected a written pardon reportedly signed by the Sharif brothers, which was produced in the Supreme Court by the Attorney General of Sindh, and termed it character assassination of the partys leadership by the government.

Islamabad, June 10 : The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has categorically rejected a written pardon reportedly signed by the Sharif brothers, which was produced in the Supreme Court by the Attorney General of Sindh, and termed it character assassination of the party's leadership by the government.

"Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif neither addressed any application to Pervez Musharraf nor they signed any pardon," PML-N Central Information Secretary Ahsan Iqbal said.

He said the present government was involving itself in mudslinging and was criticising the personality of Nawaz Sharif the same way as Pervez Musharraf had done.

"The government produced pardon in the Supreme Court to show its frustration over the popularity of Nawaz Sharif in the country," The News quoted Iqbal, as saying.

The PML-N spokesman said the government was trying to misguide the people of the country on the exile documents of Nawaz Sharif.

"Pervez Musharraf had played the same card when Nawaz Sharif was preparing to return to the country after spending years in exile," he recalled.

The PML-N leader claimed that the document produced by the government in the Supreme Court itself would become a laughing stock for the regime and badly damage the atmosphere of reconciliation between the two major political parties of the country.

He said the government was trying to make the old and baseless issues and scandals alive whereas there were mountains of scandals against the PPP leadership.
