The wife of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has spoken in defence of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palins daughter, insisting that candidates kids shouldnt be involved in political discussion.

Washington, Sept 5 : The wife of Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama has spoken in defence of Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin's daughter, insisting that candidate's kids shouldn't be involved in political discussion.

Palin was named Senator John MCCain's running mate last week, just days before details of her 17-year-old daughter's pregnancy was revealed - leading to media frenzy. Now, Michelle Obama has said that one of the reasons she is proud of her husband is because of his silence about Palin's family issues.

"I know that they care about their kids, and we should let them deal with this issue," People quoted Michelle, as saying on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

"This shouldn't be an issue for political discussion," she added.
