Lalus Nepal visit postponed

Indian Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav visit to Nepal has been postponed on the request of the Indias foreign ministry and Indian envoy to Kathmandu.

Kathmandu, Sep 4 : Indian Union Minister for Railways Lalu Prasad Yadav visit to Nepal has been postponed on the request of the India's foreign ministry and Indian envoy to Kathmandu.

The reasons cited the proposed visit of Nepal Prime Minister Prachanda to India in the near future.

Lalu had plans to visit the flooded areas in Sunsari to inspect the latest situation.

The flooding caused by torrential rains, which officials say is the worst in five decades, was caused after the Kosi River breached a dam in Nepal where it originates, unleashing huge waves of water that smashed mud embankments downstream reaching as far as Bihar in India. The flooded Kosi River flowing above the danger level in Nepal has damaged the Sirha dam at three places, posing a major threat to the dam and the nearby Kosi barrage, Nepalnews reported.
