Transamerica Reinsurance, a unit of Transamerica Life Insurance Company and a major supplier of life reinsurance, announced that David O'Brien has joined its senior management team as a senior vice president in its International division. O'Brien will focus on growth in international markets.
O'Brien returns to the company following a 2-year stint with Lehman Brothers where he served as senior vice president in its Insurance Products Group and as director of Bermuda-based Lehman Re Ltd. Prior to that O'Brien served as the chief pricing actuary for Transamerica Reinsurance's U.S. life business. "David is among the best and brightest in our industry and we are delighted that he is taking on this new role in our International operation," said Paul Rutledge, president of Transamerica Reinsurance. "The international markets are vital to our growth strategy. David's expertise in risk and structured financing solutions, his work ethic and his commitment to creating value for our clients will go far in strengthening our position in Asian and Latin American markets."
O'Brien will report to Michael Colannino, executive vice president of Transamerica Reinsurance's Asia and Latin America business, which includes operations in Mexico, Chile, Brazil, Japan, Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong. "David will play an important role in helping us leverage our worldwide capabilities to meet local customer needs and help them profitably grow their business," Colannino said.
