With more than 30 years of international business experience, including a diverse career in both finance and strategic planning, Mr. Yanes brings substantial relevant expertise to Smartmatic as the company continues to expand its global presence.

As CFO for Smartmatic, Yanes' chief responsibilities will include developing and overseeing the company's worldwide growth as it continues to increase its market share in providing election solutions and technology. Specifically, Mr. Yanes will be in charge of strategic customer financing, Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) analysis, as well as the overall planning for the company, among other things.

Since 2000, Mr. Yanes worked at CANTV, which, during his tenure was a Verizon subsidiary and Venezuela's largest telecommunications corporation. At CANTV, Mr. Yanes served in leadership positions first as Senior Vice President (SVP) and then as Chief Financial Officer. Under his leadership, CANTV achieved remarkable financial success, and in 2007 it had sales of more than U.S. $4 billion.

Mr. Yanes began his career at General Telephone and Electronics (GTE) in 1976, where he worked until 2000. At GTE, Yanes held numerous senior positions in their international offices, including, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, the United States and China.
