Doctors in India can now subscribe to one of the world's most trusted providers of medical information and education following the opening in New Delhi of The BMJ Group's Indian office.

Two senior executives from The BMJ Group, which is owned by the British Medical Association (BMA), are visiting India this week to explain how doctors can benefit from the evidence based medical information which the Group already provides to doctors in the UK, other European countries, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, China and the Middle East.

Professor Parveen Kumar, Past President of the BMA and Chair of BMJ Learning's Advisory Board, and Dr Michael Chamberlain, Chairman of the BMJ Group, are holding meetings in New Delhi and Mumbai with the Indian Medical Association, the Ministry of Health, the All Indian Institute of Medicine and Science, 21st Century Management Solutions, and hospital groups Fortis and Max Healthcare and Educom.

Dr Chamberlain comments:

"Continuous Medical Education for doctors is likely to become compulsory in India as in various European countries. We are therefore keen to expand our interactive, web-based BMJ Learning modules in India so that Indian doctors can join the 700,000 doctors in 35 countries who have access to BMJ Learning. The BMJ Group is the largest deliverer of education modules for doctors worldwide.

"We are also introducing to India our sister company, OnExamination. OnExamination provides training and examination practice for most post graduate medical disciplines, including Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (MRCP) in the UK and online examination preparation services for PGMEE in India."

The new office in Noida is headed up by Prashant Mishra who joins the BMJ Group from Elsevier and Wolters Kluwer Health STM Publishing.
