Pakistan says no shift in Kashmir policy

Pakistans Information Minister Sherry Rehman today said that there was no shift in Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) policy on Kashmir and its right of self-determination.

Islamabad, Oct 6 : Pakistan's Information Minister Sherry Rehman today said that there was no shift in Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) policy on Kashmir and its right of self-determination.

Rehman's statement comes following Pakistan President Asif Ali Zardari's remarks describing militants in Jammu and Kashmir as terrorists.

She said that Zardari had never linked the Kashmir liberation struggle to terrorism.

The Information Minister reiterated government's resolve to hold talks with India over the Kashmir dispute.

Rehman called for the inclusion of all three stakeholders -Jammu and Kashmir, India and Pakistan - for amicable solution of the Kashmir issue.

India on Sunday welcomed Zardari's remarks and hoped the neighbouring country will honour its words to combat the menace through "action".

Zardari after his first meeting with Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh in New York recently had publicly voiced his determination to tackle terrorism head on.
