Musharraf not to meet Chaudhrys in future

Pakistan President Pervez Mushrraf has reportedly decided not to meet PML-Q president and former premier Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and not to entertain their phone calls in future.

Lahore, May 8 : Pakistan President Pervez Mushrraf has reportedly decided not to meet PML-Q president and former premier Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and not to entertain their phone calls in future.

If a presidential aide privy to a recent meeting between Musharraf and Shujaat is to be believed, Musharraf also regrets promoting the Chaudhrys prior to February 18 polls.

Musharraf wanted Pir Pagara to head the pro-Musharraf Muslim League and elevate someone from Punjab as the party's secretary general but the Chaudhrys resisted the plan, the Daily Times quoted the aide as saying.

According to him, the Chaudhrys resisted the plan because they wanted Elahi to replace Shujaat if the latter stepped down due to his deteriorating health.

The presidential camp was trying to bring about a change in the PML-Q leadership despite Shujaat's refusal to step down, he added.
