London, May 7 : One in three Brit workers has been to work with a hangover, while more than one in 10 turned up drunk for work, a study has found.

The poll of 1,000 people and 250 firms showed that five per cent of staff turn up sloshed once a week.

In the poll, conducted by Norwich Union Healthcare, bosses reported that booze was the main threat to employee well-being and led to people taking sickies.

People working in media and creative jobs were the worst culprits, with 41 per admitting they have been to work while still drunk.

"It's essential companies have a robust drug and alcohol policy," The Sun quoted Dr Douglas Wright, of Norwich Union Healthcare, as saying.
