London, May 6 : The Home Office has launched a campaign warning men that paying for sex with exploited or trafficked women is no different than committing rape.
As part of the campaign, posters will be piloted in men's toilets in clubs and pubs in Westminster and Nottingham that will say 'Walk in a Punter. Walk out a Rapist'.
It is hoped that campaign will help tackle the demand for prostitution and highlight how women are forced into selling sex, and that forced sex is rape.
"These women are being treated as commodities and are sold, controlled and exploited by others for a profit," The Sun quoted Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker, as saying.
"This is totally unacceptable. Trafficking is a vile and evil trade and sex buyers must be made to think twice about the consequences of their actions," he added.
The pilot phase of the poster campaign will run to the end of the month with separate online ads.
"The campaign should draw attention to the plight of these women and make men think about what they are doing," Coaker added.
